Rain's Thursday Art Date - Eyes and Ears

Welcome to Rain'sThursday Art Date.  The theme is 'eyes and ears'.  I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") in alcohol inks.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - The Masters

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date's 'The Masters' theme.

I decided to do my take on Picasso's 'Bouquet of Peace'.  You can see his painting and information on his art if you follow the link.  In Picasso's painting, the hands holding the flowers are of two different people as they are both right hands, but you may not notice at first glance.  I did the same in my piece which is an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") on canvas outlined with a Pentel Sketch pen and coloured in with alcohol ink markers.

May years ago I had bought an inexpensive print of this Picasso painting because I just loved it.  A friend saw it and wondered how it could be considered good art.  It did not appeal to her and as such art is very subjective isn't it?

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Still Life

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! The theme is 'Still Life' and I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") in acrylic. I was going for a neutral black and white colour scheme.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Swiped

I decided to go with a newer definition of 'swiped'. On Tinder and perhaps other online dating apps, 'swiping right means you approve of a male/female after judging them by a few picture and a short bio. "Swipe right" can be used anytime you make a good choice or approve of something.' This is according to the Urban Dictionary.

So my ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") depicts a 'swipe right' on an online dating app.  My daughter was shaking her head at me, 'Mom!  You  are not supposed to know these things at your age!'  I just chuckled and had fun with this one.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Abstract

For Rain's Thursday Art Date, I did a couple of ACEOs based on a fire rainbow I saw in a video. Yes they really do look like this but at the same time they look like abstracts here don't they?

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Descent

For Rain's Thurday Art Date's 'Descent' theme I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") of some 'Stairs'. I wonder what everyone else thought of?

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Two Colours

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") of a skyline at sunset in yellow and various shades of purple.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Fairy Tales

Here is my ACEO piece (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") for Rain's 'Fairy Tales' theme today.  As a child I loved all the fairy tales, they were so magical.  Of course I was partial to happy endings, I still am.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - try a different medium

Rain's Thursday Art Date asked us to 'try a different medium' this week. This (8 1/2" x 11') piece is done entirely in watercolour crayon. The stubby crayons look like pastels. After colouring in the page, I dipped a paintbrush sparingly into a small amount of water and this is the final result.  The tulip is based on a photo I took from above it, peering into the stamen and pistils at the centre.  There were 6 perfectly formed petals, the magic of nature really.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Heat Wave

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! Her theme is 'Heat Wave'. I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") of a sweaty face. It is what heat waves make me think of, that horrible sticky, sweaty feeling that makes winter time seem so far away and unbelievably appealing.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - A Magical World

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date. Her theme is 'A Magical World'. I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") based on a photo I took outside my living room one year. It was a pretty magical moment seeing this robin outside the window with blooms all over the tree outside. I felt like I was in a fairy tale world for a moment!

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Summer Plans

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! The theme is 'Summer Plans'. I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") to represent the weeding I plan to do all summer! I go out every day if possible and get a few weeds out, it is a routine and very therapeutic!

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Your Dream

"Smile Often
Think Positively
Give Thanks
Laugh Loudly
Love Others
Dream Big"

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! For her 'Your Dream' theme, I did some dreamy stars, an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") for you. Then I chose a 'dream' themed quote from Pinterest to go with it.

My dream has always been that everyone have a safe roof over their heads, and enough food to eat, simple, yet not.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Cracks and Crevices

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date, Cracks and Crevices theme!  Here is my little ACEO (2 1/2"x 3 1/2") for this theme!

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Round and Round

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! Her theme is 'Round and Round' this week. I did a water wheel ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2"), they do go round and round after all as most wheels do.  I was inspired by a photo I saw on Valerie’s blog.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Historical Events

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date. For her 'historical event' theme I chose to depict the first man on the moon event. It is an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") on cardstock in permanent marker. I am old enough to remember when it happened (July 20, 1969), an unforgettable event for sure.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Your Flower

lavender

White Rose ACEO

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date! 'Your flower' is the theme this week. It turns out that my birthday is on the cusp of the Zodiac, Gemini-Cancer. So I am showing an older piece I did of a lavender pot of flowers, and I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") of a white rose. These are my 'cusp' flowers.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Signs of Spring

Photo

scanned version

I did an ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2") featuring spring nail art for Rain's Thursday Art Date.  I am showing a photo and also the scanned version.  My scanner turned the real pink colour of the flowers painted on the nails into purple which is fine too.

Here is the answer to yesterday's riddle by the way. It is c) daughter

Rain's Thursday Art Date - What a Mess!

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date 'What a Mess' theme. I remembered doing this piece back in 2011 for Paint Party Friday and thought I would share it here again. I had spilled some yogurt down the stairs. Here is the post from back then.  Interesting from the old comments, only Valerie and of course Kristin are still posting today, people do come and go as in real life.  I used to work in watercolour pencil in those days.  Then I picked up the courage to use acrylics.  Now I am lazy and use markers.  And I think I spill more these days.

Rain's Thursday Art Date - Bubbles and Bubbly

Welcome to Rain's Thursday Art Date's 'Bubbles and Bubbly' theme. I chose to do some bubbles in a bathtub ACEO (2 1/2" x 3 1/2").  It's been awhile since I sank into something so luxurious, how about  you though?
