On Psychological First Aid

We got this Psychological First Aid booklet from The Canadian Red Cross, a charity we sometimes donate to.  Usually we get Stroke Symptoms, or Heart Health booklets, this is a new one.  It is first aid for the mind and our social networks.  Rightfully this is just as important as first aid for the body.

Here is a link with more information.

You know... this could be very helpful. For Art and me, caregiving is sometimes stressful and takes up a lot of our time. My friend just came to me in tears because she's caring for siblings who are unable to care for themselves. It's hard. It's very hard. We often forget to care for ourselves when we're caring for others.

great work indeed and i believe the psychological booklet is little more important because if mental aid is provided well to keep a mind healthy threat for physical health decreases

I have read some self help books lately. Some help but most don't.

Yes, this seems to be on our mind as of late, and many would say it's about time we have something like this. Thanks so much for sharing this post. Very important, indeed!

Both body and mind need to be nurtured! My dad, back in the early 90s, used to say that we need to look after our brains and exercise them too, as well as our bodies. His thinking was keep it well exercised and you will be happier.

I've never seen that before either.

I think it's good that this is starting to be recognized as an important part of overall health.

Hena, the booklet has tips on self care and care for others. Look for signs of stress, listen to how you or others are feeling, link to support systems, live with coping strategies in place. It even has a stress assessment quiz!
